Customer Review: Not exactly what I thought
I thought it would tell my pulse all of the time without having to push the button. It is a little inconvienient to have to push it while you are on the tread mill. Also I thougt I could use it as a regular watch but it is to thick and the cuff of my shirts will not go over it so it sits on my dresser. I would have bought the one with the chest band if I thought I had to go through this. I would not recommend it.
Customer Review: Almost a Heart Rate Watch
I have no doubt the watch will do the functions as advertised. The difficulty lies in programming it. I expect to solve the heart rate programming during my next hospital stay. The vendor provided fast service in getting the watch to me.Sportline Solo 920M Men's Heart Rate Watch

Mio Motiva Heart Rate Monitor Watch

On the surface, the Mio Motiva heart rate monitor watch is a stylish, everyday, wearable fitness accessory. But the Motiva takes things one step further by integrating Mio's patented weight-management system, giving you all the motivation you need to reach your health and fitness goals. Your weight is directly connected to the foods you eat and the exercise you get. The Mio Motiva helps you manage the former by setting daily calorie targets and recording the number of calories you eat throughout the day. The Motiva then tells you how well you're doing and sets off an alarm should you go over. When it comes to exercise, the device monitors your heart rate and makes sure it stays high during workouts for a maximum calorie burn. With the Motiva, you can literally watch the calories burn off.

Specific features include the ability to accurately read your ECG heart rate without a chest strap, five exercise timers (count up, count down, count up with warmup, walk/run, and repeat), Mio's 3,500 Calorie Countdown program, and a user-accessible battery hatch. As a bonus, the Motiva comes with an interchangeable watch band in orange and grey, along with the MioSense Guide for Healthy Living, a booklet that includes information on health, nutrition, diet, fitness, and exercise, along with carb and calorie tables at the back for easy reference.

About Mio
The story of Mio began in 1999 when it was created by entrepreneur and mother of three, Liz Dickinson. Like many of us, Liz balances family and career, leaving little time for fitness. After several unsuccessful attempts to achieve her fitness goals and shed the pregnancy weight-gain of her third child, Liz turned to a personal trainer for advice. While working with a trainer, Liz realized the key to getting in shape and staying in shape is to practice smart eating habits, monitoring calorie intake, and using a heart rate monitor to ensure that she exercises at the right level. Liz realized there wasn't a product available on the market that would easily help her follow her trainers advice.

Liz didn't have time to read labels and carry a calorie journal in her purse, nor did she have much patience for the uncomfortable chest strap she had to wear to get her heart rate. She knew there had to be a better way, so Liz used her technology and marketing savvy to create Mio, the worlds first heart rate monitor to work without a chest strap. And, it didn't stop with just heart rate, as Mio also has a patented calorie management system that offers a straightforward approach to managing your diet. With the help of Mio and a balanced diet, Liz was able to shed those unwanted pounds and gain the benefits that come with improved fitness: more energy, more vitality, and less stress, and help many others do the same with the creation of Mio's products.

Customer Review: Very Satisfied
The Mio Motiva heart rate monitor has been great. At the gym, it's accuracy is about the same as the equiptment heart monitor and without the "pesky strap". I have used it while swimminng in both freshwater and ocean swims. I am not a professional athlete. That said, I am completely satisfied for my needs.
Customer Review: Complex but excellent watch
I have used my Mio Motiva watch for a month now. It provides amazingly accurate heart rates and does so quickly. It also is programmed and customized for your weight and age. It has an amazing amount of features for a relatively inexpensive watch. My only complaint is that if you are using it for tracking net calorie consumption on a daily basis it is a bit of a pain to enter your calorie food amounts. I use alot of technology in my job, but the entries for this are a bit tedious and time consuming. The actual performance of the watch is outstanding. Highly recommend this product.

Customer Review: Okay, room for improvement
I have had my T4c for 4 weeks now. On the plus side: * the heart rate monitor functions better than Polar or Timex, especially early in a workout. With Polar and Timex I'd usually get wild values until I had warmed up (i.e. pouring sweat). Suunto seems to do a better job. * I enjoy the Coach. Not sure if I will attain my goals but it has so far really nailed the intense/moderate/rest periods well. * definitely okay for an every day watch. The negatives though are definitely things Suunto could fix: * the manual is bizarre, clearly missing steps. Figuring this thing out was tough. * in heart rate mode you can lock the buttons which is necessary as the stop/start is very easy to push. BUT you cannot lock the device while showing heart rate AND training effect prediction. Um... why not? It's the only setting like that. * the face gets scratched. I have managed a few very deep grooves in 3 weeks with normal living. Definitely will be needing a solution here.
Customer Review: OK for Training
Clever product with some nice features. Instructions could be a little better written. Price was very attractive for the features included.

Polar F6 Men's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black Coal)

The Polar F6 heart rate monitor is a great choice for using in large groups where other exercisers might be using wireless training gear that could interfere with your own signal. The F6's coded transmission prevents crosstalk with other monitors so you'll get a personalized workout--even in a class environment. It's packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals, including:
  • Zone Pointer: A visible and audible feature on the display of your heart rate monitor showing your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone.
  • Polar OwnCal: This feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time e.g. one week, it helps in achieving both short term and long term goals.
  • Polar OwnZone: This feature guides you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determines a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone--your OwnZone--while taking into account your current physical condition.
  • Polar OwnCode: This technology blocks unwanted signals from other heart rate monitors, ensuring disturbance-free transmission of your heart rate data.

The Fitness Bullets feature shows a bullet on the monitor's display for every 10 minutes spent exercising/training in your target heart rate zone. The Time in Target Zone feature calculates the amount of total exercise time spent in your personal target zone. You can use this feature together with the Total Exercise Time to determine the effectiveness of your exercise program. You can also better assess your training data using the included Polar Precision Performance (PPP) 4.0 software and the SonicLink feature, which wirelessly uploads exercise settings to the software or to Polar's web service.

Other features include:

  • Display of heart rate, exercise time and average heart rate
  • 24-hour clock with day/week indicator and stopwatch
  • Large easy-to-read display with split screen
  • One-year average battery life
  • Water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet)

About Polar
The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Customer Review: Polar is the only brand for me
I always get Polar HRM- they last forever & I usually give my old ones to my sisters to use, because they still work. But when it comes to working out, I am a gadget junkie so I have to have the newest model/color. I noticed the biggest complaint by others is battery replacement. I have never had a transmitter quit working & my batteries usually last a good long while. So... when you go to replace your battery, use your local jeweler. He can order the battery if he doesn't have it on hand. F11, he has on hand usually- F6 or F4, may have to order. BUT it always costs me between $10-15!!! And I know he will put it back together well- no leaks. Don't worry about that waterproofing junk- mine have never leaked even after I replaced the batteries. Polar is the best, hands down- & they have great features & are easy to use!
Customer Review: Better than expected!
This is my first HRM watch. Arrived in perfect condition and was user-friendly for initial set up. Chest band that comes with is a Medium, but don't be discouraged if you're a large frame, it is much bigger than I need and I'm 5'9 225lbs. Watch is helpful in all aspects of exercise regime. First, it is easy to use and very helpful while working out. I constantly adjust the treadmill to keep my HR in the zone I'm going for on a given day. Second, and most importantly, it reminds you how often you actually work out. You might find that your mind had been playing tricks on you. For instance, I like to think I easily workout three or four times a week, but that really just isn't the case, unfortunately. It's more like twice a week. That sucks, but it's good to know and gets me a little more motivated when I strap this thing on because the first thing I say after I see it's been four days is - "DAM# IT"...what was I thinking....Anyway,this watch is golden. I use it to run for about 45-60 min three or four, wait, no, twice a week. The best thing it's done for my workouts is make them less painful becuase I know exactly how hard to work to keep my HR in the "zone." It's a lot less work than I thought to keep my HR in a good spot for 45min-1hr. Before owning this watch, I worked out way too hard...Great buy.....

Reebok Slimline 30 Heart Rate Monitor Watch

The Reebok Slimline 30 Heart Rate Monitor Watch comes complete with a wireless chest strap transmitter that sends data to the wristwatch-style monitor. This ultra-lightweight transmitter contours to your body for a comfortable fit and feel and includes a built-in battery. Designed especially for women, the Slimline 30 is built-for smaller, more slender wrists. This monitor displays time of day, calendar, daily alarm, and visual and audible alarms. Plus, it comes equipped with a stopwatch and countdown timer for interval training, and a handy backlight for training when the sun goes down. Based on how hard you're working out and for how long, this monitor is built to track calories burned. And the scan feature slowly flips through the various readings--maximum, average, and minimum heart rate--for no-touch visual monitoring.

About Reebok
Reebok's United Kingdom-based ancestor company was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So, in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes. In 1958, two of the founder's grandsons started a companion company that came to be known as Reebok, named for an African gazelle.

Customer Review: Great monitor
I really like this watch. I've only used it a couple of times and have been pretty impressed with it so far. FYI - The band around my chest was a little painful until I figured out I had it on too tight. After that change, it was very comfortable. It calculates your calories burned depending on your normal ambient heart rate, weight, heart rate while exercising, etc. I highly recommend this product. PROS: User changeable battery. The size is perfect and it's even a little "pretty". Not like the big men's heart rate monitor I had before. I like the calorie burn, which seems pretty accurate. It's easy to ignore the monitor strap on your chest. It packs a lot of nice little features like scanning to show your heart beat range, a timer, alarm, etc. CONS: It took me a little bit to set it up while reading the instructions. I'm still not totally sure I got all of the settings right, but I'll play with it more. I also had a hard time figuring out how to clear the calorie count (with it displayed on the screen hold down st/fwd). And a couple of times I've had difficulty getting out of the heart rate mode. But really, those are not enough to knock it down in stars.
Customer Review: Just what I was looking for
I was looking for a heart rate monitor with a user changeable battery on the chest band that was inexpensive and worked. The text on the screen is a bit small showing the different modes and stuff but I can't imagine any other way to include so many features on a small screen. It took me awhile to learn how to use it and set it up as this is my first heart rate monitor but I figured it out and it seems pretty straightforward to use. The chest band is comfortable, it seemed to pick up a reasonable resting and moving heart rate. I think it was a good value. I've been using it for about 2 months now and I absolutely love it. It's great to know how many calories your burning during your workout and to know how high intensity you're working out at.

Customer Review: Works as advertised
Really small, definitely a feminine look. The daughter loves it and with the HRM, all's well in the world. The actual receiver has much closer range than originally anticipated, but this isn't the Olympics either. Good product. HOWEVER: changing the battery for a Timex is akin to brain surgery. I've done it three or four times and it is not for the average person. Beware of the watch battery, it devalues an otherwise great product.
Customer Review: timex midsize digital fitness heart rate watch
I got a great deal on this watch on Amazon. This same exact watch was $80 in a nearby retail chain! It comes with a heart rate strap and counts your calories burnt, and gives you your heartrate too. It can serve as a normal watch and is lightweight too!

Customer Review: Great "low" tech heart monitor
This is actualy the third one that I've bought (I lost the last one and the first one died out) and I love it. I tried a version of the polar heart monitor that was "fancier" with upload capabilities, etc, but I ended up returning it and getting the lower priced version. While the upload and personal trainer features may be great for some folks, I don't really need that. I do want to see how I'm doing, as I'm doing it, so I love the "bullets" (for every 10 minutes that you're in your heart rate zone, a bullet appears on the face, above the time). It's a great, easy visual approach to immediate feedback. (for example: If your heart rate drops or goes over your zone, the current bullet will stop flashing.) If you're just looking for something to track your heart rate and don't really need the fancy add-ons, this is a perfect monitor for you. I love it!
Customer Review: Good gift
Got this for my wife as a gift, she loves it. if the gym is your thing, this is great, nomore having to put your hands on machine heart rate monitors. Most machines actually can read directly from this.

Customer Review: Reebok Heart Monitor
The Reebok Heart Monitor arrived without a working battery. Dead as a doornail. I contacted the Reebok people, as instructed in the material. The cost of shipping it to them plus the time lost without the product made it more sensible to purchase a battery locally. Although I purchased a better battery than would have been installed originally, it cost me an extra $25 that should not have been necessary.
Customer Review: Wet to work
The only odd thing I noticed about it is that it has to be very wet to work but it does work.

Customer Review: Mine works just fine
My watch works just fine. I don't give it 5 stars simply because 1. it's not particularly attractive like the more expensive TQR 775 analog model. 2. it can't do anything fancy such as show me an average hr for my workout. The instructions recommend you take your hr before exercise, during warmup, during exercise, and during cool down. I'm going to track my resting HR and my recovery rate during cool down. It also has a calorie calculator based on the current heart rate. I don't know if it assumes a certain body weight as the instructions don't mention anything about this topic. It also shows a % of max HR figure next to the HR figure, based on the age you enter. Bottom line: Overall, it's a good product that does what it's supposed to do - with NO annoying chest belt and one button to push for only a few seconds for a reading, even while moving. It also has some standard watch features like time, alarm, date, chronograph, and countdown timer, and looks like an ordinary digital watch. Very affordable and useful for tracking times, calories, and HR. I would recommend it.
Customer Review: Great Heart Rate Watch!
The heart rate monitor is very easy to use and has been accurate when compared to various exercise machines and a heart rate monitor with a belt.
